For the second day in a row, rockfalls have occurred on El Capitan, a popular rock formation located in Yosemite National Park in California.。

The national park confirmed the fall on Twitter on Thursday, telling visitors that the Northside Drive exiting the Yosemite Valley is closed due to the fall crossing the road. 。

Rockfalls are not particularly unusual for Yosemite, and the park even has a rockfall chart that shows falls documented from 1857 to 2011. 。

"Rockfalls are a common occurrence in Yosemite Valley and the park records about 80 rockfalls per year; though many more rockfalls go unreported. The rockfall from El Capitan was similar in size and extent compared with other rockfalls throughout the park, though it is not typical that there were victims," the park service wrote on its website in reference to the rockfalls on Wednesday.。
